  1. It is clear now with the S.E.A. Games. The Indonesians don’t like Malaysians. This is only sports but Indonesians seem to take this opportunity to show their displeasure of the Malaysians, by booing at our delegates, officers and participants and even to the anguish of many even showing disrespect to Malaysian national anthem and flag.

This is all Malaysians’ doing. They treated the female citizens of Indonesia who had come to work as maids for the households of Malaysia with disrespect. Words go back to their country. So this is what they are getting in return.

The Indonesian maids had been approved by the Malaysian Government to work only as maids in houses but I saw many of them forced by their employers to also work in their restaurants. I had also one maid climbing up a ladder to clean up the ceiling fan, coolly watched by her female employer, poor gal! I mean the Indonesian maid! Another was washing the car!

I haven’t seen them personally but it rages me inside to read in the papers of these poor maids being beaten and treated badly by their uncivilized employers. When, I, as a Malaysian can feel such anger do we have to tell about the Indonesians!

It is still not too late yet to change. Show that we Malaysians are caring people. Treat the maids as part of our family. Buy them presents. Joke and laugh with them. Give them proper rest. Take them to places where you would want your family to go, not to give them work but to make them enjoy the tour.

As I had said words get around and see their reaction at the next sports event in Indonesia where Malaysians take part. They are also humans.

  2. Thank you for your opinion Sir. What you said were right. I had seen (about maid) and heard it all. I put the blame on the authorities concerned; due to their lack of supervision and law enforcement. A Muslim maid shouldn't be doing chores which are forbidden by their faith, and a maid employed as housemaid shouldn't be seen working in a restaurant kitchen, etc, etc.

The hatred the Indonesian has towards Malaysian isn't just about maid abuses but were triggered by other issues as well and which includes psychological traits. The late Sukarno war cry "Ganyang Malaysia" was so deep-rooted in the society; and are getting stronger by the day.

We do not have any problem with Thailand and Brunei who both shares the same boundary with Malaysia.

P.S. The logical answer seems to be this... There is no Thai or Bruneian maids working in Malaysia.

  3. Since the SEA games, I've been following a lot on Indonesia. I nose around Jakarta Globe, Jakarta Post and Kompas.Com. What I notice is, it is an inherent habit of Indonesian youth to make a mountain of molehill. The Gov. don’t give a damn for what they do. And whatever they do, somebody will die from some freak accident. It’s all normal for them. Yes the feelings to Malaysia are little intense, thanks to their media fueling things. But it’s not real, at least not in Malaysia.
